I don't know exactly. Unfortunately, over the years I had gathered a nice list
of Common Slavic roots, but not-so-long-ago I accidentally deleted it. There
must be a back-up somewhere, but I haven't found it yet.
I guess the Common Slavic form must be *veselU (the longer form being
*veselUjI), hence the Romanian form "vesel". But I have no idea from what
Indo-European root it derives.
