Any type of conlang has its own problems in word creation. In the case of
Wenedyk, my main problem was that I want the vocabulary to be based on Vulgar
Latin and not on Classical Latin. Hence, my Latin dictionaries are of little
use. Often, I work with four dictionaries at hand: Classical Latin, French,
Italian, and Romanian. Sometimes Portuguese or Rhaeto-Romance, too.

I'm doing much the same thing with my Carrajena. I'm consulting my Latin, Sicilian, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Catalan dictionaries for etymologies of native words -- with occasional reference to French, Romanian and any other Romance lang I can lay hands on (Sardinian, Corsican, Vegliot, R-R, Veneto, Milanese, Provencal, etc.) TO try to get the proper VL feel.

For borrowings I'm looking at Punic (or Biblical Hebrew as a substitute when necessary) for substrait and Arabic(from 700-1100), Greek(Koine and Byzantine)(from 100-1200), Norman French(1100's), Francien(1200 on), Spanish(1200 on), Catalan(1000-1500?), Veneto(1100-1500?), Provencal(1100-1500), English, German, Classical Latin, Classical Greek, etc.(1800 on).

At this moment, I am trying to resurrect my North-Slavic conlang Vozgian.
Based, of course, on Common Slavic. The difficulty with this language is that I
need to find not only Common Slavic roots, but I also must know which syllable
is stressed. Especially the latter makes it hard. As a result I have to consult
both Russian, Ukrainian and Bulgarian dictionaries.

Sounds cool. Thank goodness I don't have to worry so much about stress placement with my Carrajena since Proto-C or maybe even Norht African Vulgar Latin regularized all stress to the penult.

Life is not easy for a conlanger...

No, indeed! LOL
