Sure. After all, linguistic change is generally independent of what
went before. In Latin to Spanish, -mn- clusters became -nn-, which then
became ñ, e.g., _damna:re_ -> _dañar_, but VL -mn- clusters became
-mbr-, e.g., homine -> homne -> hombre.
